Barefoot Books and Home Depot?????

You may be wondering what Barefoot Books has to do with Home Depot.  No, Barefoot is not starting to partner with Home Depot. The connection is about saving money.  I love playing around with the double meaning of words.  (as you can see with the name of my blog!)  About a month ago, Home Depot was running TV ads announcing they "were lowering the cost of going Barefoot!"  They were actually referring to their carpet sale.  Barefoot Books is not selling carpeting but we also are lowering the cost of going Barefoot with our current
free shipping on online orders of $60.00 and over.  I can't  help you  get your carpet cheaper but I certainly can help you save money on Barefoot Books.  Go to http://marshamiles.barefootbooks.com and you, too, can lower the cost of  "Going Barefoot!"

" Barefoot is the Best!"

Barefoot Books recently posted on Facebook about  people questioning  how Barefoot Books chose their name.    Most people felt if was because of when you are barefoot you are "living directly in touch with the Earth"  Tessa Strickland, co founder of Barefoot Books,  indicates the simplicity and naturalness the image of a barefoot child brings.  "The image of the barefoot child speaks to anyone, anywhere in the world.    There is a freedom and earthiness in going barefoot.  Our Barefoot Books truly value what "Living Barefoot" is all about. Our books celebrate creativity with our well written stories and gorgeous artwork.   A recent article in  The Guardian  writes about the physical  importance  of a child going barefoot.  Here's a excerpt:
Clarks, which produces Crawlers, makes the following declaration on its website: 'There's nothing better for young feet than walking barefoot, whenever it's safe. It helps muscles develop, allows the skin to breathe and feeling the ground beneath their feet will help them learn to walk.' The title of this statement?  'Barefoot is best.'    To read the entire  article go to:http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/aug/09/barefoot-best-for-children   In many ways,  I too, believe  Barefoot is definitely the BEST!
How do you live Barefoot?

"Going Barefoot is Pratically a Requirement"

Haba rug Barefoot style,
not your cashmere bathroom rug!

I'm a big fan of HGTV.  I watch it a lot.  My husband says, "Maybe, too much!"  During a recent bathroom updating project I also took to surfing HGTV's web site.  While searching for the perfect towel bars, cabinet handles, and blinds I stumbled upon an ad for a  cashmere bath rug.  This luxurious rug was under the caption, "Going Barefoot is Practically a Requirement...!"   Of course the caption was referring to how amazing the rug would feel in your bare feet, but as an independent seller of Barefoot Books this caption spoke to me in a very different way.  Barefoot Books slogan is "Kick off your Shoes and Go Barefoot".  To me "Going Barefoot" is truly a  requirement in my life.  For almost three years, I have been enthusiastically sharing our  wonderful books.  Barefoot Books are gorgeous gems celebrating imagination, creativity, art, story, cultural diversity, and helping  our planet.  The idea of Living Barefoot brings on images of not only sinking one's toes into a soft cashmere rug, but running barefoot in the sand along the ocean, singing and dancing in the kitchen, catching fireflies, cuddling up and finding new treasures in a well read book, (the list is endless, full of simple, joyous pleasures) Through  Bare-Footnotes I will share Barefoot news, specials, opportunities, and individual books in hopes of showing what "Living Barefoot" is all about.  I invite you to read, follow, post your comments, and visit http://marshamiles.barefootbooks.com  in hopes of sharing why I believe "Going Barefoot is Practically a Requirement" with or without the cashmere rug!
